One of the most popular tournaments on the European golf tour returns to the Algarve for the 14th straight year. The Portugal Masters, with prize money of 1.5 million euros is the largest tournament held in Portugal.
The oceanside resort of Vilamoura once again plays host to this prestigious event, taking place 10th-13th September at the Dom Pedro Victoria Course, in Vilamoura.
Vilamoura is one of the golf stages in the world, with five elite courses and since its first edition, the Portugal Masters, designed by the mythical Arnold Palmer, is considered very prestigious.
In the last edition of the Portugal Masters, Steven Brown won his first European Tour title in an exciting way because he needed a strong end of season to maintain his rights to remain on the European Tour in 2020. The Englishman finished one stroke ahead of South African pair Brandon Stone and Justin Walters.
This year the Portuguese tournament will also be part of the new initiative Golf for Good, which aims to support communities that host stages of the European Tour, honoring true heroes, such as those who work on the front line, and also striving to promote the benefits of golf practice.
According to the European Tour, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event will now only be attended by a very limited number of sponsors’ guests.
